Micromax releases new update of Micromax A88 Canvas Music Stock Rom V3. In this version Micromax  fixes some bug and remove some Apps. Micromax A88 Canvas Music phone is a decent phone.  It is the best phone in the given range approx. 8000 Indian Rupees only. It is first phone release with JBL headphones in Micromax canvas series. Canvas Music have 4.5 Touch Screen, MT 6577 1 GHz Dual Core Processor, Jelly Bean 4.1.1, 512 Ram. Micromax release third software update for canvas music stock Rom V3. In this version Micromax removed Playbooks and plays movies apps.

Preparation of flash or update:

1. Take a backup of your phone Click here.
2. Your phone battery should charge 80% minimum.
3. Make sure proper power backup of your PC.
4. Read all steps then do it careful.

How to Install New update of Micromax A88 Canvas Music Stock Rom V3:

Step 1: Install drivers in your PC (If you feel any problem in install driver and Enable USB Debugging on your Phone. Go to Settings >>> Developer options >>> USB debugging check it ( If your phone have Android 4.2 or upper version then see how to enable Developer options here is guide of this Click here). After then switch off your phone.

Step 2:  Extract the Stock ROM folder where you want then Extract and open the SP Tool. and run Sptool.exe Run as Administrator

Step 3: You will see an SP tool window, now click on the scatter-Loading option in the SP tool. Then you will get the new tab of SP Tool which you ask the location of the scatter file on your PC. You will find this scatter file in the extracted Stock ROM folder. Now go to the Rom folder and select the file “Android_scatter_emmc.txt”. See in this image.

Flashing-process

Step 4:  Now You will see two options for flashing Rom, first is “firmware upgrade” option which is used to update or flash your Rom without deleting your data and second one is “Download” option this is work for format your phone then flash Stock Rom ( like fresh Rom installation). So choose according to your requirement and I suggest, click on the “Download” option and flash fresh Rom on your phone.

Step 5: Now connect your switch off phone to the PC via USB cable  (Make sure your phone is switched off). SP Tool detect your phone and process will start. See in blow image. If Sptool is not recognize/detect your phone then install vcom driver read this post it will help you click here  (Driver already in phone flash drive if you don’t have these drivers then install it)

Step 6: Now Sptool start downloading Stock Rom in your phone by flashing.

Note: Don’t interrupt this process as it can potentially brick your device. Make sure no power interruption takes place.

Step 7:  After the process complete, a green ring will appear.

Step 8: Disconnect your phone. Now your phone is updated with New update of Micromax A88 Canvas Music Stock Rom V3.

  6. you've to connect your phone in flash mode by switching of the phone first and then connecting it back by holding the volume up key and plugging in the usb wire

  8. I flashed this ROM. But it did not fix the ram issue. Ram fillsup for no reason. Have to reboot the phone daily. Will Never buy these chinese phones in future. Can i flash V1 rom back to my phone?

  10. i hav a problem. i was trying to increase the internal memory of my a88.
    but i hav not done anything that are said in the process steps. i was only taking back up of my apks using clean master. then i hav uninstalled some games and lot of apps that are installed in my phone. then i switched of my phone and using recovery mode i tried to take a backup. but it said something that and backup had not done properly. then i i tried to switch on my phone, i got bad. the phone stucks at only showing "canvas" during boot. i kept the phone as that and it was not booting. then i removed the battery and go to recovery mode, clear data and factory reset , clear cache partition. then tried to switch on the phone. it was not booting. please help me….

    Tutorial is nice ..well explained but unfortunately, it did not work for me. Sptool does not recognize the phone (i followed all steps).. i even tried 3-4 times with driver installed n updated driver etc. but nothing happenened .. any clue what could have been wrong?
    Does phone need to be rooted?

    2. These drivers are not getting installed, how to install them, they are inf files only, i right click them and press install and message appears saying 'cant install digital signature missing'

      1. You can disable digital signature check in Windows 8 and later by holding Shift key while pressing Restart and choose Disable driver signature verification enforcement.

  13. I hv already flashed cwm in my phone so if flash the v3 update directly is it okay

    Or do i have to first clear the delvik cache and format like we do when flasha new rom???

      yes some time solve problem by re-flashing Rom, So try to re-install your Rom and after finish start your phone and do not touch your screen till it is finish

      Again some issues are occurring in this ROM such as application stops in between suddenly; I guess it will be because of RAM issue.

      Please let me know in case any other ROM could resolve this problem or else do I need to go again to my previous Stock ROM?

  24. I Downloaded V3 and V2 when scatter file loaded in SP flash tool everthing loads ub except uboot file. Its is not there in the both download. I accidently flashed it and afterwards no light in mob. I can even see wether its charging or not. please provide uboot file for A88 pleases………

    2. Can You check the Folder for UBOOT file whether it is there or not ? I dont see such file in my zip file. I think , thins UBOOT file will be the one for screen display. All others wont have such prob because , already this file will be there in their phone ROM. They will be flashing other files so they wont have such pron. But I have flashed server times with other roms too . so it could be corrupted . So I would require that file alone .

  27. What other options are need to be selected while intstalling Rom via sp tool other than MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt. i mean will i have to select options like recovery.img, boot.img ,etc at the bottom !!

      yes it is possible, Jelly bean can run on Micromax A88 MT6577 chipset. It is also depend on Micromax when will they release this update.

Plz check im right firstly i m downlod driver ,sp tol nd v3 rom nd extract al of them then phn is connected with my pc on data storage mode nd then click on sp tool folder in this folder click on rum rumsptol an run as administrator then select v3 rom folder in which select mt5677 mt5677scatter rom nd swich of my phn with connected with data cable then the downlod option is show in sp tol folder??? Nd the green ring disply on my phn then al process is complete then remv batry after 1 min then the whole procedure are comlele??? Plz tel me nndplz give me my answrs of 2 qus thanxx….

      extract this and open and run sptool.exe as administrator

      then click on load scatter file
      and select scatter file from your Rom folder
      then click download option
      process start after finish a green ring come out

    does it really work for Micromax A88 bcoz i m really tired with my rom…..it is a little buggy…and consumes more RAM.. i have to restart every 2 day…

      then connect switch off phone to pc

      after few min it is recognize your phone

  59. I had downloaded fully but it shows error while extracting system.img check the archive might not uploaded properly.. It was showing 314 mb at previous server now it shows only 223 mb…
